ExWorks (EXW) (named place, i.e. factory warehouse) Any Carrier* It is the seller's responsibility to make the goods available to the buyer at his premise. It is the buyer's responsibility to load the goods onto the conveyance. The buyer assumes all costs and risks from the seller's premises to destination. |
Free Carrier (FGA) (named place) Any Carrier* It is the seller's responsibility to hand the goods over to the named carrier at the named place, cleared for export. The seller assumes all costs and risks up to the named carrier, at the named place. It is the buyer's responsibility to take possession of the goods upon delivery to the named carrier, at the named place and assume all costs and risks at that point to destination. |
Free Alongside Ship (FAS) (named port of shipment) 0cean or Inland Waterway It is the seller's responsibility to deliver the goods alongside the vessel (on the quay) at the named port of shipment. The seller assumes all costs and risks including delivery to the quay alongside the vessel at the named port of shipment It is the buyer's responsibility to take possession of the goods upon delivery to the quay alongside the vessel at the named port of shipment. The buyer assumes all costs and risks from the quay, including loading of the goods on the vessel, to destination. |
Free 0n Board (FOB) (named port of shipment) Ocean or Inland Waterway It is the seller's responsibility to deliver the goods over the ship s rail at the named port of shipment. The seller assumes all costs and risks up to the ship's rail (including loading), It is the buyer's responsibility to take delivery at the ship's rail at the named port of shipment. The seller's risk is transferred to the buyer once the goods have been delivered at the ship's rail. Cost, Insurance and Freight (CIF) (named place of destination) Ocean or lnland Waterway The seller's responsibility is the same as the CFR with the additional responsibility of securing marine insurance against the buyer's risks of loss in transit, The seller is responsible for paying the insurance premium and clearing the goods for export. The buyer's responsibility is to assume all costs at the named port of destination (including offloading). Buyer assumes all risks at the ship's rail upon loading at the port of departure. |

The buyer's responsibility is to take delivery of the goods upon clearance. The buyer assumes all costs and risks upon clearance of the goods. |

The seller assumes all costs and risks to the named place of destination (excluding duty and import clearance), The buyer is responsible to take delivery of the goods at the named place of destination and to assume all risks and costs (including import clearance and duties). |
